Lippert through frame actuator question??

Hi all, new to the forum and I’m sure like in most forum’s there’s always a guy/gal that’s knows there stuff.... so my question deals with, end of last year we went to leave and our slide, would retract, so we hand cranked it in, by way of a wrench on the cross shaft that connects the driven and the idle side of the system. It’s a lippert through frame, electric actuator. The manual crank wouldn’t work and you could hear the motor just free wheeling too. So I removed the actuator last night and found this to be the issue. Hopefully the picture load. Has anyone had a similar issue. And the million dollar question, is before I spend $$$ on a new actuator, what was the most likely cause of this kind of failure? Or it the someone / somewhere I could get parts for the unit, lippert says the spring is a non replaceable item.

Thanks again Jeff
