Leaning, how much is to much.

I have 2018 2670bh. It has approx. 4k miles on it. This winter it has been stored in my barn, and I noticed about a month ago that it seemed to be leaning to the curb side. So I measured it from the front hanger to the ground and sure enough it was about an inch difference.
So on the sagging side I replaced both spring packs. We went for a small trip to the lake, and when I return home, the same exact thing again.
This time it seems its out about 9/16 but that is enough to be able to see it when you look at it.
I have taken everything that is stored on that side of the camper and moved it.
Another thing, when I open the slide, which is on the opposite side, it almost levels out.
I don't k,ow what the answer is. Should I upgade the weight of the spring pack on that side or both sides idk.
Any advice would be appreciated, Thanks!Click image for larger version

Jeff a few clarifying questions.

What surface are you parked on? Could the trailer have settled?

Do you have the same size tires on both sides? Same wear and age? Same inflation?

The slide is heavy and when extended will cause some shifting. For the small amounts of difference you are talking about, I'd leave it be. JM2C.

Well it is on concrete, same tires and inflated the same.

So I don't know what it is, and if it really matters.

When standing beside it you can tell, and it hasn't always been like this.

If you changed the spring packs and there was no improvement, then it's not "spring sag" from worn parts. I'd be careful about shifting all interior cargo away from that side and to the other side, you could wind up overloading the other side, especially since the slide is 'over there already"....

A couple of things to check, first the spring hangers, are they damaged/bent?
Second, the axle riser/U-bolt/axle pads, are they the same on both sides and secure?
Third, are the spindles bent/damaged at the axle tube? It's possible that you might have hit something while towing and bent the axle tube/spindle ??

Is it possible that although you have not noticed this until recently, it's been this way all along but you didn't see it until recently?

You say you changed out the spring packs. This next suggestion is very "labor intensive" but to completely rule out spring pack sag, you could put the roadside springs on the curb side of the trailer and the curb side springs on the road side. If it still sags the same, you'd definitely have ruled out the spring packs. If the lean follows the spring packs to the roadside, then you'd know they are the cause of the lean.

I've always heard that trailers and trucks are "built to accommodate the road crown and that the curb side is slightly taller than the driver's side (so vehicles sit level on a crowned road). I don't know if that is still being done or even if it was ever done, but something I've always heard. It sounds like your trailer is built "opposite that" ??????

First things first. Have you checked the level on your concrete pad? Or parked somewhere you Know is level? Agree with JRTJH, had a horse trailer many years ago with shorter hangers on driver side. Great in granny lane or backroads, not so much in the fast lane. I suppose whoever built did not know horses are self leveling.......

2018 should not have needed new springs unless grossly overloaded. You state “spring packs” replaced.

Did you take apart equalizers and look at bushings and bolts? Had all of this been previously greased from dealership and then by you as preventative maintenance.

What does camber look like on those axles from side to side? Just a visual look see or quick measurement from side to side same axle at center of hub with weight off one axle at a time .. not the most accurate way but it would sure show if something was radically wrong

Just some thoughts.

What did the dealer say about it? Still under either a keystone or if dexter parts a 3 year warranty. I certainly would have someone else look at it. Now that you changed out parts likely any warranty will not be covered.

Thanks for the replies.

The dealer said 3 yr. For structure and 1 yr. For the chassis. I took delivery mid 2017 so so any warranty is a no go.

The pad is level, and the hangers and axles look good.

I replaced everything back to stock. Replaced bushings with nylon, which were worn.

And yes it could have been like this for awhile. It seemed like the high side on the WD hitch was wearing a little different.

Tomorrow I plan on checking the bow in the axles and compare the two. They look similar but I'll take a straight edge to it.

Dexter Axle Company changed their "axle warranty" in 2016 from a 2 year warranty to a 5 year warranty on sprung axles and a 10 year warranty on Torq-Flex axles.

So, your axles are warrantied by Dexter for 5 years. Keystone never warrantied your axles, they "managed the Dexter claim" for the first year, then it's up to the dealer or you to contact Dexter with problems. Your dealer is not doing his job if there's an axle problem and he told you it's not under warranty.

If you don't have a copy of the Dexter warranty, you can read about it and download a copy here: https://winstontrailers.com/whats-ne...axle-warranty/

Well I learned something new, Dexter now has a 5 years warranty. That's why I asked heck it's nearly a new trailer.
John filled in everything else I was going to suggest.

I got a chance to crawl under the camper last night. And took a couple pics. The first picture is the good side, or at least higher than the other. The second is the pic that is sagging.

I did measure axle to axle and the side that is sagging is closer together about a half an inch.

It appears on the sagging side, the axle looks twisted back.

Thanks for the info about the axle. Dexter has a plant about 20 miles from here.
Thanks againClick image for larger version

Tilt

Are you on the hydraulic levelers? Could one side be leaking?

To my old eyes it looks like the ubolts on the curb side are tipped forward and the ubolts on the driver side are vertical. Not sure if this would account for the height difference, just an observation.
Edit
After reading one of your posts again, I realized that you spotted that the axle appears twisted back on the curb side. Which would explain the ubolts being tipped forward.

Is the distance between the holes in hangers the same on each side?
