Sounds like your about as serious as you can get. I will say changing out the CH751 is good, but a decent screwdriver can pry open most any compartment door. If a scumbag wants your stuff he/she will find a way, but taking all the precautions you are may just make them go somewhere else.

This is how I lock my propane tanks... your tank set-up may vary. Drill a hole through the butterfly nut and one into the crossbar holding the tanks. I also use a king pin lock as well.

....which reminds me that I need a couple replacement locks for the bottles on ours. I used the old ones for other purposes. The dratted CH751 hatch locks were changed out within days of us taking ownership of our 5er. The entry - we use the dead bolt with fewer potential keys since the other can be opened by a more readily available master key.

Some good ideas here. For me use as much security as you feel is necessary that you are secured. Remember someone is out there that wants to separate you from your belongings. I changed the lock in the door, use a hitch lockout mechanism and changed out the basement locks. If the thief really wants to break in they can but it will take them a little longer and when they set off the alarms (German Shepard, Collie and a Samoyed) they would get too far into their misdeed.

We have a lock on our 5th wheel hitch. it was about $40 heavy duty, wouldn't drop the trailer with out putting it on in a storage. Even sitting on our property I still lock her on up. Don't want to risk someone trying to steal something we put so much of our money into. I think it is a must to have a lock. Hopefully your storage unit also has some type of surveillance camera's that will detour low life thief's.

I'm sure that somewhere, sometime a trailer has been stolen from a storage park. I have never heard of it but it must have happened. For me, I just have other things I worry about a lot more than that. Same at a campground. Never heard of a trailer being stolen but it must have happened. So it really just depends on your paranoia. If you rest uneasy because it might be stolen, the lock it up. Rest easy.

I don't keep anything worth stealing in my outside storage compartments... cheapy camp chairs, mops, brooms, hoses, extension cords. No special locks because I can't believe anybody would want that stuff.

When I rented a house, my fiver was stored at a dealer in the back lot. Found out their own employees were taking units on the weekend to AZ and stripping them for parts. I was hit for hoses, power cords, propane cylinders, regulator and lines.

I was in the process of buying the house I am in now. Removed a pool and brought my trailer home. That was 17 years ago, but I still remember
It like it was yesterday.

Thieves broke into several RVs in the storage lot were I keep mine on Wednesday, sign on gateway says cameras in use. They hit 3 different lots that nite. Most of the ones broken into, were the ones that didn't have their deadbolts set, thank goodness I always lock mine. Broke the paddle handle and broke a lock cylinder on the ramp door but didn't get in. Took it to trade in on my new one Friday, taking other one today to trade. Still plan on storing new one in same storage lot. Most things stolen were interior stuff, no tanks or batteries or anything like that. I did notice on my new one that there isn't a lock on the battery compartment door...first upgrade!

In the storage yard i keep my unit at in the summertime, I lock the tongue, that's it. Right next to me is a brand new rig, no lock of any kind on anything. Figured that would catch the eye of the yahoo looking ot steal something.

My uncle just had both batteries, both propane tanks and they broke a window to get inside and took both television sets. They couldn't figure out how to get the slide out so they busted the inside wall to get to the tv behind the slide wall. His was in a locked storage yard.
It looks like they got in most of the newer ones on the lot. I hate thieves. Dan
