Cougar 330RBK outdoor kitchen stove mod

I found the stove in the outdoor kitchen to be useless if the wind is barely blowing and also to be too high so I decided to change that.

I attached some L brackets to the swing arm to have a mounting point for my new top.

This is the finished product. I had some oak boards laying around and decided just a flat cook top would serve me better. Now I can use my Coleman two burner stove or my griddle either one. I also lowered the cooking surface by 4-5". I'm 6' tall and sometimes depending on the site the stove would be high chest level.

Interesting. On the first picture where is the rest of the stove? Without the 3 sides I can see where is would be useless in the wind. The great thing about trailers is people can make them to be what they want.

Great mod. I just picked up my 2015 330 RBK today and was wondering about the effectiveness of the stove.

Thanks for posting.

I was wondering the same thing, where are the wind guards that came on the stove? I can see the benefit of making it lower, they are pretty tall. Add a 10" tall pot and ya need a step ladder to chech for boil.

Gary and gray I had already took the top off before I thought about pics. It has the "wind guard" built in but if you bring it in tight you can't really put any size pot on the stove also if you open them up thy fall off the sides.

I have had no problem cooking in winds on my OK stove top.
I have never even used the inside stove. Granted, it isn't the best stove ior burners but it works ok for me.
I can see why you would want too do that mod if you frequently camp in unprotected windy sites.
