Man I would jump on that! I just looked mine up again and it said 34000 to $39000 for trade. Mine was a 3/4 ton and I think yours is higher because there is a scarcity of 1 ton trucks on the market. If you could cash out now and get a new truck ( if you could find one) it would be a no brainer because that price is liable to fall when supply’s catch up.

Yeah I know.. mine had over an 85000 sticker ...but new trucks aren’t getting any cheaper but the value of yours will start to adjust back to normal.. You have to do what makes sense for you but you would be getting a 80000 truck for 30000

jason... i think "normal" is like 53k,these beasts really dont depreciate much especially low mileage ones that are cared for well.

I hear ya believe me.. I’m sure yours is a wonderful truck..it just seems like you hit the sweet spot where it’s worth the most money..no problems and it only goes down from there unless you park it... the new trucks in 3 -4 years may be $95000 lol... but yeah I get it mine was paid off and if it was a 3500 instead of a 2500 I would have kept it.

My thinking may be flawed... if the prices rise really high on new then theoretically the used prices will climb with them

I get offers from the dealership at least once a week to either purchase my truck outright or pay me top dollar for trade in allowance.
Their offers are not even close to KBB pricing.

I'm not interested, this dually is paid off and I see no need for a new truck or payment.

But I don't know where y'all are looking but there is a good selection of F350's around here. I posted a link earlier to several.

I posted mine on craigs list last night and have multiple offers at 59k already. Someone came over after only two hours !!! Started looking for a replacement and there is nothing I like within 500 miles so in holding pattern

Wow that’s great... I know I could have got close to $40000 for mine selling it but the banks around me are still all closed except by appt.. I didn’t want to deal with someone bringing me a cashiers check (don’t trust a cashiers check unless I’m with the person at the bank) and then have to make another appt just to deposit it. I was lazy on that one. And I have sold on Craigslist many times and I’m about fed up with the knuckleheads who frequent that site. I listed my jeep a while back because I wasn’t driving it that often and took it down because after receiving a few emails with offers all over the place I decided I will keep it forever before I have to meet one of the people that buy and sell Jeep’s . Well good luck ,Javi and a few others showed me places in Texas and Florida I believe that had a good selection of trucks..you could fly in and drive home.

I don't know if anyone has thought about this issue from this standpoint, and I don't want to get into politics, but with today's government regime and their agenda, big diesel trucks are very likely to become increasing unavailable in the near future. If you settle for something less now, thinking it's going to get better, you may find the situation drastically worse in a couple of years.

I would say stick to your guns now. Decide what you want. Have the funds ready, and when you find that deal, you can be ready to jump on it. If you get that truck now, you will be set for a good while.

Look at Ford’s 7.3 gas. I’ve been dragging my 16,000lb Montana around the south and the southwest for the past few months with no power related issues. Climbe to 8,000 ft and higher several times. Before that, I had a 7.3 diesel. This gas engine gets about the same mileage towing but I’m running regular gas in it. (Watch out when you’re out west where they often try to pass 85 octane off as “regular”. ) with the new 10-speed transmission, it dies a good imitation of diesel braking (and just about as loud). My diesel was twin turbo and I don’t miss those at all.

I’d think you were getting a little conspiracy...y....but then I see GM announcing they’re stopping all Gas and Diesel vehicles by 2035 and I’m not so sure...and I wonder what the upshot will be in the meantime?

Will I end up paying $8/gal for Diesel?
Will I end up with a Truck that’s worthless because everyone moved on to Electric?
Will I end up with a $250k Diesel that helps fund my retirement because they become heavily sought after?
What on earth will they replace them with that can take a charge in a reasonable time AND pull that 17,000 trailer 400-600 miles?


We’ve got a 3/4 ton that’s fairly well matched to the bumper pull, but want a 1-ton in the future...may just have to stick with what I’ve got if Truck values do what Real Estate’s doing.

We towed our 2014 31ft 28RLS with a load weight of 8K with zero issues with our 2015 6.4 Hemi Ram 2500. Fast foward
to 2021 just purchased a 34ft 5th wheel with a pin weight of 2300 & empty weight of 11,300. Truck has a 3130 payload capacity & 12,850 tow capacity. Tow the new trailer home through the Texas Hill country & the Hemi let me know it was back there pulling these hills . No issues though with keeping up with traffic on the interstate. According to the ly- o - meter during this 117 mile jaunt i got 10.7 towing the 28RLS & 9.4 towing the 5th wheel coming home. Regardless of what you purchase tow capacity is important But its the payload capacity is what normally get people in trouble.

My 2007 classic lbz doesn't know what DEF is. A axillary tank is a lot easier to add to a diesel. No worries about pump access when unhooked with extended range. Can use truck lanes at truck stop.Engine turning 1800 rpm while pulling a grade is a lot more calming than listening to that gasser scream. I have found it to be a lot less stressful pulling with my oil burner. But each to there own life is full of choices. Pick what you think is best for your situation and enjoy the journey.

if you look at the announcement closely you will note that they exclude Heavy duty vehicles, its only light duty's. SO 1500's electric, hds gas or diesel. Mary the CEO specifically has said this in public too. They know there is no chance of hauling big weights on electric with current technology.

An update to my saga. I actually had multiple offers for my Ram at $60,000, and a committed buyer. I found a replacement truck, identical to what i would order, 2021, limited, every option possible, the dealer says full MSRP or nothing, hence, I am keeping my 2014. LOL. 43,000 miles, i will wait till next gen and a "normal" purchasing environment. Dealer was very honest, he said they are selling everything in transit, easily, at full msrp. This one I found was two weeks out. It was literally every option in Maximum steel color ,limited, SRW. 89k

Blah, Blah, Blah. I feel like I am reading a novel on some of these comments. I really love my Diesel, especially when going down a steep hill and can use the diesel brake to slow me down. As far as I know gas trucks don't have this ability. Enough said.
