Mustang Island State Park Campground, Texas

We are thinking of spending a week or two on the Gulf coast during our winter getaway this year, and wanted to get opinions of Mustang Island State Park Campground from some of you who have been there. Thanks in advance for your thoughts and replies.

Good park, a ways from town. Good beach but the campsites are basically a parking lot.

We're at Goose Island SP in Rockport /Fulton right now. The back window of our trailer is literally 20 feet from the water.

Javi, how is the beach at those waterfront sites? And is there some kind of structure at each one?

No swimming beach but there is a nice one 15 minutes away in Rockport or it's only a 1/2 hour to Port Aransas.

There are concrete cabanas with a picnic table at every campsite..

There is also a very nice lighted fishing pier at the park..

I don't have many pictures with me but I think the DW does and I'll try and post some more this evening..

This is a photo of the fishing pier..

BTW my avatar is me sitting behind my trailer fishing at Goose Island SP

Javi what's with the big bump in the pier? I assume that's to let boats through?

Yep.. that's what it is.. this is a shallow bay and that is a deeper cut between islands.. caught a lot of trout and reds in that cut under the lights.

That must be tough getting up there in a wheelchair but fun going down it
Sure looks like a peaceful place to fish and to catch trout is a bonus!
