I had custom trailer and axel build me 3" beams and supply the upgraded springs. Installed my self

Hey guys,
I know this is an old thread, but I have a 2011 passport 2910bh. Bent rear axle in first two trips. (No obvious potholes or curb strikes) replaced the axle and here I am again with the same bent axle. I too will be upgrading to 5200 lb axles, hubs, brakes, springs and tires. Kinda ridiculous that I will spend 1000 dollars when keystone could have spent 300-500 during initial manufacturing. Does anyone know what size axles are on the newer models? (I would be willing to bet that keystone tried to drop weight and keep the same axles rather than DTRT.)

I think my 2016 Passport 2810BH has 3700 lb axles.

We bent our axels coming out of Colorado, a year ago, CALL you auto insurance company, ours replaced both axels BUT you have to go through an approved dealer.. It won't hurt to check it out.

When they sold you the trailers with bent axles they were required to ensure that when the hitch weight was added to the total GAWR weight, the sum had to equal or exceed GVWR. Did you insure it stayed that way? Lot's of places to put stuff. Stuff adds up fast. Unbalanced stuff and unaligned trailer connection to the the TV can cause an axle to be overloaded. Bigger axles may not bend. But, sooner or later something else will.

I just picked up a 2017 3320, it has 4400# dexters and d rated tires gvwr is 8000#

The official load capacity for those axles will be displayed on the certification label as GAWR for each axle. They should be closer to 3700# GAWR ea.

According to the specs the tire size and load capacity is very generous for a Keystone trailer. (2540# @ 65 psi).

Hi I read your post and I have a question. We just got back from our first RV trip, only 15 miles away just to get used to the unit ( 2017 keystone 2200 mb) While crawling under the RV I noticed that the front axle had an upward bow to it maybe about an inch or less. I didn't look at the axles when we picked it up. We did not load much in the unit as we put most of the stuff in the tow vehicle. Is this normal or should we call the dealer? Thanks

Actually both axles should have an upward bow. They are designed this way to accommodate for the load. If you look at them when TT is loaded they are usually straighter. The bow is also part of suspension flex.

Actually I have had to re-arc one set in Alaska, and then got home to Oregon , did it again. Traded that one in on a larger unit "bigger axles" and blew them both in Colorado , gratefully for good auto insurance paid for the whole sheebang.
