Pre-flight surprise!!

While readying my 300 mp for this past weekends ROT rally here in Austin, I found this nasty surprise during my air pressure checks. Both wheels on the right side were like this and cracked all the way thru. Does anyone know and have the manufactures contact info? Gonna see about ordering a couple more. Yikes!!

Yikes! And this is exactly why I tell my friends and family to have a pre camper checklist before they go!
Good thing you didn't hit the road!

Nice catch especially on both wheels. This is one reason I run steel wheels on all my vehicles. Not as pretty but I feel safer. They may rust or bend but rarely crack and seem to hold air better. If they want you to pay for two new ones I would consider replacing them all with steel.(may even be cheaper) JM2˘, Hank

I limped these to the Discount Tire about 30 minutes away and put on two white steel wheels. $60.00 a piece and Im down the road. Cheap insurance for peace of mind.

Is that the OE manufacturer?

Looks like a sendel T03, one of the most popular trailer wheels on the market. Just out of curiosity, do you still have stock tires or have you upgraded?

Had a blowout on my original Chinese tire bombs. Replaced with Carlisle. Whats your thought?

Just curious about the air pressure of upgraded tires. Those wheels are only rated for 100, but would think a bead would be more likely to crack than the center. Of course the higher pressure/stiffer tire could have an effect . I have the same wheels and F rated Carlisle tires on mine. no problems yet, but now I'm wondering

Even at that, I don't think I'd be keen on going back with the same wheel. I'd sure contact the manufacturer, however.

I wouldn't. Sendel makes much heavier trailer wheels, but keystone only uses them if you pay $3k for the G rated tire upgrade

Update. Just spoke with Adam at Tredit which is the distributor for Keystone. Great guy. Turns out this issue was due to me putting F rated tires on the factory rims. I was running 95psi on a rim not rated for it. Glad he told me. So I upgraded to the T 09 in Silver which is rated at 110 psi. Sold me two for $70. and two for $55. to offset the defect even tho he really didn't have to. Great company to deal with. Should be here in a couple weeks.

Adam and Tredit said the the T03 was only rated at 80 psi. I was running my TP at the max which is 95. There in lies the problem. If your running the same set up as me you may have already created the damage. However, my Raptor came to me from a previous owner that admitted he did not know how to trailer. That became evident after a couple suspension hangers broke and now two cracked rims. I had to replace/upgrade my suspension to Dexter axle wetbolt setup. Much heavier than the factory setup.

Anyhoo, I agree that one would expect the bead wall to crack, but mine could've been from what I just mentioned above.

Not sure what to tell ya for your wheels. If your running the max TP the Carlisle calls for like me, you could be coming into this problem and would definantly cause some sleepless night for me once I came aware.

Best wishes!! Keep us posted if you do see any cracks and for sure be very careful.

I guess I got lucky as I had the old china bombs and no g rated tires on my Alpine but the Sendel 8 lugs rated for 110 psi rims where on there so I paid and had Goodyear G rated G614's put on before I left the lot. That was the first thing I thought was why would they put that rim on there unless the customer requested G rated since it was an option..I am sure there is a diff in cost and they seem to want to save every dime anywhere they can. At least I got the G rated which I wanted.. I still believe they should be marked somewhere on the rim. Mine were...

According to Sendel's website, the 8 lug T03 is rated for 100 psi. The 6 lug is only 80. He must not have been aware that you had the 8 lug wheel. Did you order new wheels? If so, make sure they ordered the right ones. I'm assuming you dropped the pressures down in the other 2. I'd be watching them since the F rated tires should be running 95 psi. Do you have the number handy, I'd like to call them myself since I have the same setup.

x2 I am usually not a lucky!!!!!

Before upgrading all my original china bombs with Carlisle ST235/85R16 F rated tires. I checked the original rims (see pictures) these numbers were stamped on the inside of the rim.

Currently I am parked next to a 2014 Heartland Cyclone tri axle 4200 toy hauler, Yeap shredded china Bomb tire really nothing left of tire. Same AL rims that I have. He chose to replace it with the same tire.

Question: When asked I was told to torque the AL rims to 110lbs and that steel rims where 120 LBS. Neighbor claims his HeartLand manual states 120 LBS. Anyone know which is correct??

If the owners manual has a torque spec use it, if not torque specs are based on the stud size. This is a link to a chart used by discount tire. I have 12mm studs and use 100 on mine.
