help me spend my money on 5er hitch ...

Since I'm ... uh .... well .... "frugal" yeah - that's it - frugal! Help me figure out how to achieve the desired objectives with least amount of cash outlay on this.

Old TV (97 Ram 2500) has a Valley 16k 2 pivot 5th wheel hitch with above the bed rails.

New TV (07 Ram 2500) has a basic goose neck (GN) hitch (from NAPA, I believe).

I really would like a clean bed in the new TV, and I really don't ever see the need for a GN, as I'm no longer in construction and don't ever see getting back into horses ...

Options:

1. remove GN hitch from new TV, move the Valley from the old TV to new - no/little cash (new hitch rails maybe) but no clean bed.

2. remove GN from new TV, buy a B&W Turnover ball and Companion hitch (big $$s). Sell Valley separately (little $$s) or sell with old TV (no extra $$s probably).

3. remove old GN, buy new below the bed 5er and plug the GN hole. Wave guh-bye to the old Valley when I sell the old TV ...

4. Add Goosebox or similar to my 5er (2010 Laredo 245RL)

5. I see there are some 5er hitches like the B&W Companion that mount to a GN ball (any? GN ball?)

Looks like "clean bed" and "little to no cash out" are mutually exclusive ... any out of the box ideas on this?

Looks like you have the ideas right. I went with # 4 myself. I like the Goosebox and its features. Plus no extra money spent on hitches for the TV. Any way you go though, except # 1 there will $$ involved.

I had the BW hidden ball in my 02 2500 Ram and chose to go with the Companion. It's removable and leaves a clean bed with the flip over gooseneck ball.

I considered one of the ball adapters but after doing all the research on them I decided to spend the additional $500 and not risk damaging my 5ver.

One option missing from your list is the Anderson Ultimate Fifth Wheel Hitch. You utilize your gooseneck and buy the Anderson hitch for around $400. This hitch weights only 75lbs and is easy to remove when needed. Very happy with mine so far.

Just another option.......

Does the Anderson Hitch Require a removable ball type gooseneck hitch? Or can a flip over style be use?

Not sure of what you're referring to but my hitch ball is able be inserted upside down to enable a flat bed. When installing the Anderson hitch, the ball is locked into the truck frame mount and the hitch is attached to the ball.

Ok, I see how it works now. It fits over the ball and tights down on it. That's pretty cool. A lot easier then a companion hitch. Less weight too. This is mine attached. It leaves a clean bed also, with the added benefit of air ride.
