Anyone using a Blue Ox SwayPro W/D sway control?
I'm new here, so I hope this is in the right topic! I have an opportunity to get a hitch on Craigslist and will link it at the bottom (hope that is okay). Anyhow, the guy selling it claims it was $800 new and he also suggested I take it to a dealer and have them install it because it is "too difficult" to install. The price is right and I think I need one since I am pushing (over ) my limits! One concern is that I would like to get a light weight distribution, so as not to add anymore additional weight! I have no idea how this one falls under the spectrum of weight for a distribution hitch. Sorry that I am so new at this, but I am trying to learn all the ins and outs. Here is the link, although there is no pic: https://tampa.craigslist.org/hdo/rvs/4757533847.html
And here is a link to what "I think" it might be: http://www.etrailer.com/Weight-Distr...x/BXW1000.html

We carry those at my dealership. We don't sell many, but I believe its the cost vs. The Reese units we carry. I have to admit that my DVD for checking players during my PDI's is the sales demonstration for the Blue Ox system.
Would I use it, if I had a TT and the chance to buy that for the price you listed? YUP, but I have pulled fivers since 1989.

I have one and it is a good hitch. I don't think it's hard to set up though. Download the instructions and do it yourself. Just bought a new fiver so mine is also for sale but I'm in Ohio.

Thanks for the info, I am going to try to pick it up tonight. I did pull up an installation video and it doesn't look bad at all.

I love mine. It's super easy to use and easy to install, like others said, download instructions and should be no problem. There is no drilling. One thing to check on though, is which bars come with it. Make sure they will be the correct weight for your trailer. I think there are 750, 1000, and 1200 lb bars. If the seller doesn't know, ask him how many dots are on the end of the bar. The different weights have a different number of dots and you can check online to see which one they are. I don't know what trailer you have or what your hitch weight is but that will play into what bars you need. The hitch part is the same you just switch the bars.

I love my BlueOx SwayPro. I've changed the configuration several times due to new tow vehicles and it's not difficult. If the ball isn't installed yet, then yes, take it to a hitch shop or rv service center for proper torque. Iirc it's 600 lb/ft.
Also, make sure the ball is rated for your trailer weight. I've seen 2-5/16" balls rated for 8000#. My trailer has a gvwr of 9000 so that ball isn't capable. I have a 12,000# ball installed

Okay, I bought it and my new TT will be here tomorrow! The guy threw in a brake controller, so I will hook that up as well. This is a Blue Ox, but all the installation info I see is on the rotating tension bracket. I am assuming mine is an older style, because the tension is done with a hinge type action. There is no model number anywhere to be found. I would love to find the proper installation guide for this style. Here is a picture in case anyone is familiar with this style.

I have the same brackets. Do you have a photo of the rest of it? I still have my installation manual. PM me your email and I can copy everything.
