Rim Issue

Has anyone had this issue with their tow vehicle tire rims? Were they attached the weights to the rim it's causing corrosion. This is on a 2010 chevy 2500HD.

I think that is called Bimetallic corrosion. I had my outer weights removed and changed the stick on weights on the inside. That looks bad. Maybe GM will cover that under their corrosion warranty?

Yes my 02 chevy did that
Aluminum wheels + steal clip/bracket for weight = dissimilar metals corriosn

I had that happen on my old Chevy. It looked to me like the wheel weight had damaged the lamination that protects the wheel and let moisture get in.

I had that happen on my last Chevy. On my new Chevy I had the dealer remove the factory installed zinc weights and put stick on stick weights on inside. I can't believe that GM still puts the clip on weights on aluminum wheels.

After just getting new tires and researching wheel weights, I opted for clip on weights. They balance better.
