Auto Transfer Switch

I have searched and read extensivly on this forum and I'm about 95% positive on the answer to the question. Just to make sure. Can I buy a 50 Amp Automatic Transfer switch and use it to run my 30 amp Generator? I can't seem to find if they make special transfer switches. I want to install a power cord in the front compartment of my unit so I dont have to run the regular power cord from the back and plug in an extension to reach the generator that rides in the back of the truck. Plus from reading it seems iota is on the no buy list so what is the prefered brand of switch to buy now?

This is what I know, When I took my rv back for the Iota 50 amp transfer switch recall. They replaced it with a WFCO T-57. Seems ok, No problems yet.

The 50 amp is 2 circuts, the 3 amp is one. One of the circuts powers the coil that activates the switch. Wire it to that circut, and leave the other one disconnected. You now hace a 50 amp rated relay switching your 30 amp circut - (almost) no chance of burning / welding contacts anymore.

No special wiring is required if you're using a twist lock connector or similar on your portable generator. Both legs of the 120V/50A circuit will be energized by the 120V/30A plug from the genny. This is what you're already doing when you plug your 50A cable into the adaptor plugged directly into the genny. The ATS won't know the difference other than you'll only have 30A of carrying capacity available with your 3000is.
