Fuse blowing but everything works?

This is getting better all the time... OK, tonight after work, I decided its time to figure this thing out. I got my harbor freight tone generator (works pretty good for under $20), my fluke meter, some test leads and I'm ready to go at it. I go in the camper, put the slide out, turn the lights on an go to pull the "blown" fuse out. The assumption of course is the fuse is blown because the red LED is on next to it indicating the fuse is blown. As I pull the fuse out, the living room lights go out. If you recall from the original post, this fuse is labled "living room". I check the fuse with an ohm meter, and of course the fuse is good. I put the fuse back in and now the LED is not longer lit.

I'm feeling pretty stupid right about now. But then, I remind my self, the dealer "fixed" this under waranty (twice), and this is the third time the same LED came on. I now understand why everything worked. Because nothing was broken except the blown fuse indicator.

New question.... Has anyone ever had a blown fuse indicator come on without the fuse being blown? Typically the indicator are wire right accross the fuse, so as long as the fuse is good, there is no voltage for the indicator. Fuse blown, and 12 volts is dropped across the indicator lighting it up.

If I remember correctly, the LED is wired to a resistor and that asembly is wired in parallel with the fuse. When the fuse is functioning, current takes the path of least resistance, so when the fuse is working the resistor keeps the LED from lighting but when the fuse blows, the path of least resistance becomes the resistor/LED, Then there is current flow through the resistor and the LED lights indicating no current flow through the fuse. My guess would be that there's a 1K resistor in series with that LED that's probably shorted allowing the LED to flow current all the time. Might check there before you pull all your hair out

that LED is probably being lit by leakage current, but I would say there is a chance that the connection around the fuse is intermittent . Bad soder joint maybe, since it went away when you pulled the fuse and re-inserted it. Is the converter still under warrantee ?
