A truckers GPS or even a truckers road atlas has valuable info as to what roads are passible with the 13' 6" elevation. There are several apps for your phone has that info also.

Other than the low clearance app mentioned previously what other apps are there?

Gps

A lot of the new GPS systems allow you to program your the GPS with the height of your coach/5th wheel plus a safety buffer and it then will keep you informed of bridge clearances that could cause problems and many will give you re-routing instructions. My Garmin RV 770 GPS does just that. Great unit.

All of the above are good suggestions. I am a truck driver and have traveled all over this country. I can tell you that even with truck specific GPS that sometimes they are not accurate and can get you into trouble. I have seen many trailers topped by people who blindly follow their GPS instead of proper trip planning. Personally I run a Rand McNally truck GPS. Rand McNally also has a RV specific version too. (POI more tailored to RV use) You're best off to break out your Rand McNally road atlas and check the route prior to rolling. Even calling the campground prior to your arrival would be prudent considering they are local and should be aware of any low clearances within a short distance to their facility.

2 notes -

#1 our dome type direct TV is slightly taller than our tallest AC on our Alpine. Not a problem for our total height but could be for some.

#2 the RV type or trucker type warns you of potential height problems. Ours has been flawless for years and warned us several time. Magellan roadmate series.

It s worse seeing a drawbridge with no high limits that look low and no place to turn around . Just happened to be drawn bridge operator on duty said it was 14.2 high .
