Gray tank issue - 2011 avalanche

I am on my 3rd gray tank. Three years ago (2017) I replaced the original tank because it busted. This past week that 3 year old tank cracked and came apart - this was on the top of the tank about an inch in from the sealed edges. Has anyone else experienced issues with their tank? I am wondering if a support bracket was omitted when my RV was built. Thinking about adding a support to the drain pipe that connects the gray and black tanks that then goes to your sewer line. We have a black tank and a galley gray tank that we have never had an issue with. Any experiences/thoughts??

We've had several people report a SINGLE tank cracking. Can't remember anyone reporting TWO cracking. Before replacing a THIRD tank, I'd do a lot of investigating into WHY they are cracking.

I would definitely consider adding support straps under the replacement tank. Plumbers strap is good, just be careful how you secure it as you don't want any screws puncturing the tank.

So if I read this correctly the original tank lasted 6 years and the replacement tank lasted 3 years. Do you think there could be something going on like frame flexing in that area? Anything unusual or different on how the camper is being used?

We got lucky years ago when our grey tank developed a leak on the bottom of the tank. I was able to repair the crack with PastiMend. I then added a couple more braces across the frame under the tanks and installed blocking between the braces and the bottom of the tanks. Haven't had any issues since and feel confident that the tanks will not fail even when full like when we are dry camping.
