PUK codes for Victron Energy components/Solarflex 400i

Hi,

I just wanted to advise people who have the Solarflex package of an issue which has arisen with many people who have Victron Energy equipment. It can arise in RV's, boats and other equipment and I refer to the sudden dropping of an item (in my case the solar charge control unit MPPT 100/30) from the Victron Connect app. My Smart Shunt was still listed on the app but I was unable to pair it with my iPhone using Bluetooth and I needed the PUK for that item too.

The solution to the first issue is to disconnect the battery and PV wires from the solar charge controller and then to reconnect the battery wires. The controller will then (hopefully) be listed on the app. Then, reconnect the PV wires.

Here's the problem: you will be asked to input the PUK code to re-establish Bluetooth connection. The issue is that I was not provided with that code when I took delivery so I has to remove the controller and obtain the PUK code from the rear of the unit. Not too much of a pain but still, mildly irritating.

Now, for real annoyance, I had to obtain the PUK for the Smart Shunt. This required removing the battery cables from the inverter switch box on the front of the trailer, removing the box itself, removing several nuts from the conductors within said box, all in order to read the label on the side of the shunt.

I have made sure that these codes are now stored in a safe location!!!

That was a considerable PITA so my advice is to obtain PUK codes for all Victron devices when you take delivery of your unit unless you have an hour or two to discover them for yourself!!
