loud bang when bringing slide in

27 RES. Whiile brining slide in, there was a loud bang and the slide continued in. I let it back out and back in and no bang. It was temporary but unsettling. I checked for obstructionsand nothing. Was the slide just realigning itself or what.

Loud bang when rrtracting slide

Further to last thread, when checking cables while slide extended i notef one of the upper cables quite slack. I retracted slude slihhtly and all cables tight. It might have bin that the slack cable was binding until it tightened. Posdible. Do i need cablrs adjusted???

I would definitely adjust the cables.

A loud bang doesn't "just happen" when a slide is being ran. Realizing there are several components under a great deal of stress during that time that would make that kind of noise I'd be going over it with a fine-tooth comb. A pulley could have popped loose, a bracket, cable popped off/over a pulley etc. Don't just keep pulling it in/out until you've inspected it. If everything is fine then you could adjust it but look for a broken something or other first.

I wonder if the adjustment brackets ( where the cables attach to the chain) got hung up and popped loose.

Definitely adjust the cables.
My understanding is the cables need to be adjusted with the slide fully retracted.
Starting with the “In” cables. Both sides. There’s some videos floating around on YouTube and also in a recent thread.

If all the cables are intact, my guess is that loud bang was probably the 2 brackets crossing paths and hit each other, getting caught up, then violently releasing. I’ve had it happen before.

After adjusting the tension of the cables, make sure the brackets are straight up and down.

I was thinking the same thing... A loose cable/chain can droop down, catch the lower chain (they travel in opposite directions) and if they hang up, they'll keep stretching each other tighter until they snap apart, usually with a loud "BANG" !!!!!

That usually doesn't break things the first time, but ignore it long enough and it'll pull something behind the slide off the wall or break a cable and then the slide will be "in one spot for a while".....

I had this happen with my 33 RES. Took to dealer and the cables were twisted. Then on the last trip it happened again but this time the cable snapped bringing in the slide. Had the slide repaired and new cables and pulleys installed.

I had the top cables in my bunk slide go slack and the adjustment brackets were colliding. I did watch BAL's videos , their actual training videos and NOT a Mr Fix it where they showed adjusting them with the slideout all the way out, it didn't take much to correct. Both of those brackets need to sit vertically or they will collide. They should be well marked and once you learn their system it's fairly simple.

On my TT I also had a thump or bang when bringing the slideout in. After looking at it I determined the cable connector was hitting the drive motor hard and then riding up over the edge. To remedy this I removed the pulley from the wall and attached it about an inch higher. Only then did the cable connectors not bang against the drive motor. It appaently was a factoryinstallation defect but is resolved now.

Another potential source of a noise that matches your description happened to us today. My wife was bringing in our bed slide while I happened to be outside near it. I noted that the slide topper wasn’t rolling in and was about to run to the door to tell her to stop, when it suddenly rolled in the loose material with a bang. She stopped when she heard it.

I haven’t had a chance to dig into it yet to see exactly why it did that.
