Keystone Cougar 2021 26RBS - Fresh Wtr Tank Overflowing

Hello! We are not brand new members...but this seemed to be the best way to get a thread posted.

We are camping with water hookup....BUT my Fresh Water Tank is filled
and is continuously leaking out of the side where the hose hook up is.

Please respond with any suggestions/ideas/feedback, etc.

Thank you so much

There are an abundance of videos to correct this. It's happened to me twice in a 5-6 year period. It was just a matter of getting the check valve to be be seated in the correct position to stop the filling of my tank while connected to city water.
The experts on here will most likely provide a more technical explanation.
Hope this gets you started on the correct path.

Um, if this is really a 26RBS, it doesn't have the valve where you can fill the tank from the city connection. If his water tank is indeed leaking out the tank fill valve, this would be a pretty good trick.

Hi. This truly is a 26RBS. We are camping right now and have the water hookup to
camground water and noticed that the fresh water tank filled up and slowly leaking out.
We do have a valve where one way is for city hookup and the other way is to fill the fresh water tank. We were not trying to fill the fresh water tank..it filled on its own and leaking out>

Ah, sounds like they've made changes to the 26RBS then.

Try this and see if this applies to your situation.
This process worked for me, and I have the simplest water system available.

If you’re hooked up to city water and the fresh water tank is filling up the issue is the check valve in the WATER PUMP.

Turn off the spigot, turn on the water pump and run it for a minute or so. It MIGHT reseat the check valve.

If you have a convienence center with the hose connection and a handle that rotates 90 degrees from “CITY” to “FRESH FILL” turn the spigot off, open a couple of faucets to relieve pressure. Operate the handle, it MIGHT reseat the seal.

We had this happen almost ten years ago, and where we were there wasn't a close RV dealer, so went into the small nearby town to a hardware store and picked up an inline Sharkbite check valve and cut it into the pressure line off the pump. Stopped the problem and haven't had an issue since. In the photo, the brass thing is the check valve. It must go on the pressure side of the pump, not the suction side.

The O ring in the valve has probably failed. You can probably take the valve apart and fix it, or get a new valve.

Impressed that you found a pic from a decade ago. I have trouble from 2 weeks ago 😅

This worked for me last time it happened.

I store my RV photos in my RV folder on my computer. It’s handy when needing to find them.

With the check valve on the pressure side and not inlet to pump, will the pump randomly cycle as pressure bleeds back into the tank when not on city water?

Have had this happen several times. Each time the dealer replaced the check valve. The 3rd time it happened I insisted that they replace it with a check valve from ACE or TRUE VALUE. Same size and same connections, price for valve was around $10.00. Never had it happen again after that.

Happy camping.
