Question Water pump operation?

We recently returned from a short trip in our 2019 Cougar 22RBS trailer. I filled the fresh water tank with 30 gallons of water. When we turned the water pump on, it kept cycling but not pumping. I then turned the outside lever to "City Water" and the pump worked normally.
Is this common? I don't remember doing this previously.
TIA

Yes, it is possible. When on "fill" the pump will cycle, usually short bursts every now and then. But it's possible it could run non-stop as it's sucking air. The same thing happens when the valves are set for winterizing, the pump will run, nothing pumps.

You are set right with the valve on "run" or "normal", ... not fill, by-pass off, and winterize off.

Sounds like you closed off an air intake when you moved lever to city water? Not sure if that's normal, or if something else was open, or if there's a crossed piping or back up valve issue?

Well, the same thing happened to me just today. I noticed the water pump running excessively long after turning the faucet off. I didn't think too much about it, until the pump ran and didn't want to shut off.

My wife said, "Did you check the fill valve." Well, yes dear, I did flip it when I filled yesterday.

So, I went outside and checked. And yep .. still on "fill". I flipped it, and the pump shut off. OH DUH! I just forgot to flip it, it was just that simple.

This happened just today! So ya, it's normal. ... perfectly normal.
