Dometic AC Fan Problem

Hello All,
I have a friend visiting with her class B camper van. The van has a self contained Dometic heat pump/air conditioner. The AC is blowing cold air, however the fan is making a very loud rattle/thumping noise. Loud enough that we do not believe would be safe to run the unit, nor would you want to be in the van. we took the front grill off but of course there is nothing to be seen except the Colling coils. Unit is as follows:

Dometic self contained heat pump/air conditioner rotary compressor system model 41002

We have attempted to find online information on this unit without success. any help would be appreciated.

What year is the van? From everything I found the unit has been discontinued for some time. Have you removed the shroud over the fan to look at it?

if it’s a squirrel cage blower it could have sucked something into the wheel..even a dryer fabric softener sheet in a residential unit will make a furnace seem like it could walk across the floor…fan blades/cages are very sensitive and easily unbalanced..if it’s the condenser blade it could have something caught on it or a broken blade

The van is a 2010. And the AC unit is original. I am thinking I will have to begin tearing into the unit. What is the probability if I remove the rear radiator I will get to the fan/blower?

You can't remove the condenser coil or the evaporator coil. We have had a blower fan, the inside fan break on one of our A/C units and just recently had the condenser fan, the one with propeller blades, have one of the blades break off, this in the other A/C unit. The blower fan looked perfectly normal sitting still, but once turned on, it expanded so it was rubbing on the inside of the housing. The recent condenser fan failure was obvious as the six bladed fan only had five glades which caused it to be extremely imbalanced.

Is this van similar to the older RoadTrek vans with the air conditioner mounted above the rear doors, in the fiberglass roof ??? If so, on the RoadTrek vans, there's access to the mounting bolts inside the coach through the cupboards on either side of the air conditioner unit. Then you simply pull it out from the grill space. The grill is removeable and once the mount bolts are removed, the entire unit slides out through that space...
