Ouch in the storage area..

Does anyone else have nails sticking out through the walls in your storage area? We have contacted the dealership where the Fifth wheel was purchased, and they don't seem to want to help, also we contacted corporate and they never responded? This is a disaster waiting to happen, any suggestions?

I dont have this problem, but I'm sure its part of the manufacturing process though. You could bend them down flat. I wouldn't saw them off as they could pull out. The dealer and Keystone would not see this as a warranty issue.

We have several of the same nails in our front storage area. They are a part of the construction process. They are "nails driven by an air powered nail gun" as a means to expedite the construction. Ours, like yours, were protruding into the front storage compartment and I was concerned that they would be a safety hazard when getting anything out of the compartment. Our dealer was reluctant to do anything about it, stating that it might affect the bed attachment (which is where they were driven into the steel structure from inside the trailer and inside the bed frame.

I used a ball peen hammer, bent them over so they were no longer in the way. That was almost 5 years ago and they still haven't "unbent themselves"....

If I were you, I'd just fix the problem with a handy hammer and go camping. Trying to get the dealership or Keystone to "fix what they consider not broken" is just a means to elevate stress levels.

If concerned a out bending them, find some rubber/plastic tubing to slide/glue over them, at least they wouldn't be sharp.

Going Camping

I was able to get a hold of a Keystone affiliate and they were happy to reimburse the labor cost of simply bending the nails, they were very nice and professional.

but i bet a good crooked lawyer could make some money off this. if someone were to picked by a nail.

bend flat. then couple coats with some liquid electial tape.
should never be a problem after that.

There is a clipper designed to cut nails close to their penetration.
