Any problem installing bumper hitch on back of springdale fifth wheel?

I would like to be able to pull my Polaris RZR behind my Springdale 247. There was a spare tire mounted on the bumper and I have moved it to the front storage compartment. Anything wrong with adding a receiver to the bumper for a small trailer?

Have you looked to see how your "bumper" attaches? It is there more a place to store a sewer hose than any structural support. If you want to put a receiver on the trailer, find a welder and take it to the frame I think.

Wouldn't recommend anything more than your sewer hose in the bumper & probably a good thing you moved the spare.
As recommended, have a hitch welded to the frame.

Most RV bumpers are designed for minimal protection of the trailer and storing the sewer hose. I upgraded mine with these:
https://tec4conv.com/product/quick-p...pport-bracket/
I also welded these brackets and added weld plate where the bumper attaches to my trailer frame. I have the spare tire and sometimes two bicycles on the bumper.
For any trailer hitch you are probably better off going with a frame mounted hitch verses one attached to the bumper.

I would not attach anything to the rear bumper. it will rip the bumper off. Receiver hitch is the only way to go.

Isn't the bumper welded to the frame? The bottom of my trailer is enclosed so I can't see the frame.

The bumper (sewer hose storage) is thin walled and there is most likely at best a tiny bead of weld. They aren’t designed to carry much more weight than a wet hose and sometimes not even that much.

I don't think the tongue weight of the trailer and RZR would reach 200lbs. The trailer is a 5x8 wire mesh utility trailer.

Your idea for a bumper attached hitch is just asking for trouble.. go to a welder and get a proper receiver welded on... otherwise that ATV and trailer you are wanting to pull will separate from the back end of that RV ...sooner or later

Drop the colorplast and do the job right....

I have two pieces of metal tubing that run from under the trailer to the actual bumper, they measure 2"x 4". They seem to be thicker walled than the bumper. Is this what the receiver would fasten to?

For comparison, lay a 5 pound rock on an empty soup can & bounce it up/down a couple hundred times in a mile! What happened to the soup can is your bumper if it were still attached!! Bye bye RZR.....

No, the receiver would bolt onto the actual frame rails, the two I beam (or C channel) rails that the axle hangers are welded to. The "box extension" at the end of the frame rails only serves to support the "thin wall square bumper tube" and sometimes the rear stabilizer jack mount plates.

If you go to this link, you can read about the CURT RV hitch. There is a link on the page to download the CURT installation instructions. Those instructions will give you a "step by step" process on where the hitch "should be installed" and "how to install it". https://www.curtmfg.com/part/13703

There is also a link to a 4" square bumper hitch that bolts onto the bumper. https://www.curtmfg.com/part/19100 I've seen several people actually crush their trailer bumper trying to get the hitch to remain secure. I would heed the instruction sheet "warning" that says the device is rated at 350 lbs tongue weight and 3500 lbs trailer weight, BUT "do not exceed the manufacturer's bumper limitations. On Keystone products, that could range from 150 pounds (with no trailer rating) to 250 pounds (also with no trailer rating). The Keystone bumper is rated to support a spare tire rack and/or a BBQ grill swing arm, nothing more.

I had a receiver hitch fabricated into a 4x4 square tubing bumper. I'm thinking the wall thickness was almost .250". It's so thick a sewer hose wouldn't fit inside. Probably could have carried a Harley on it. It wasn't cheap.
I posted pics on here. Click on my avatar name and look for "posts by gearhead". Probably back in 2015.
If I had it to do again I would use the Curt, or similar.
If your trailer is still under warranty you might void any frame warranty welding on it.

Also, don't forget to check the laws for double (triple) towing in your state and wherever you will be traveling.
