2010 Laredo 24.5rl cannot locate water pump

Hi all! Greetings! since we just purchased this 2010 Laredo 24.5RL 5th wheel that BTW did not come w/ any owners manual.we are stumped!. Does anyone know where the water pump is located on this rig?. We did our first camp last week and had to leave, as we could not get the water pump to pump water and we can hear it but it was shooting water out the side near the city water opening- ( my hubby MAY have overfilled the tank) a big no no apparently -completely different then our old Exiss LQ horse trailer. Again we have no manual. Any pictures or recommendations is appreciated!.

Welcome to the forum. If water was shooting out the connection where you would put a hose (city water) then the back flow preventer is either broken or sticking.

With the water turned off, look at the center of the connection, you’ll probably have to remove the screen. Look for a triangle piece and gently tap it with a screwdriver tip. Turn the water pump back on and it should stop. If not try tapping one more time and if that doesn’t work it needs to be replaced.

Welcome to the forum. If this was a "new to you" fifth wheel, the dealership should have inspected and serviced it before pickup. If they did their job properly, then all of the systems "should have been checked and should be operating properly".... That said, your husband didn't damage the water pump system by overfilling the fresh water tank. If, when you turn on the pump, you can hear it running and there is water "gushing out of the city water fill port", then the bypass valve in that fitting is malfunctioning. Again, "IF IT'S A NEW TO YOU TRAILER" then it should be covered under a buyer's warranty for a few days, contact the dealership and ask.

As for the Keystone Owner's Manual, you can download a copy here: https://www.keystonerv.com/owners/owners-manuals/

The above manual is a very basic manual that covers all of the Keystone brands and all of each brand's models, so it's a "bland, generic booklet" with very little "model specific information"....

As for each of the appliances and components in your trailer, you can find the model number and brand name for each, use GOOGLE to search for that specific owner's manual. Just google the model number and the term "owner's manual pdf".

Any specific questions you have, post them on the forum in the appropriate section and hopefully a member will respond with the information you need.

Good Luck and welcome to Keystone and to RVing.

Thanks folks- YEAH! we did finally find the water pump ( we did not buy this from a dealership)- Private party. I looked up the Laredo manual and like you said its very generic and tells you nothing on how to troubleshoot items. We have a trailer repair guy we know, coming Friday as we cannot figure this out on our own. We do not know where the Bypass valve is located -is there anywhere on line to find a 2010's electrical and plumbing information w/ pics?? hopefully our guy can figure this out!- (we bought this 5th wheel 3 months ago but had our 2 dogs die on us and we could not go anywhere-(cancer and old age)-so we should have perused the ex-owners but time got away and now they are not responding. Such is life- Thanks again for all your nice information and getting back to us so FAST!

The backflow valve is physically located and screwed to/molded into the city water connection. The device is composed of the garden hose connector that you screw the city water hose into (on the side of the trailer). The backflow valve is a part of that device and sits "inside the garden hose connector. The entire assembly is mounted in the sidewall of the trailer and the cold water line inside the trailer just screws into the back side of that 4" long device.

As for finding plumbing diagrams, electrical wiring diagrams, schematics, blueprints or any other "help for the owner" drawings, Keystone does not share that information with anyone, even their own dealerships. So, if I were you, I wouldn't waste the time trying to find those "unicorns".... They don't exist in the public realm.

To restate chuckster's suggestion, disconnect the city water hose from the side of the trailer, look at the center of it and you'll probably see a hose washer with a screen on it. Remove that hose washer/screen and peek inside the fitting. That's where you'll find the triangular plastic plunger he spoke about.

Below is a very basic drawing of the RV water system, a couple of photos of the city water inlet. You can see the "inside backflow valve" which is the brass device screwed to the back of the city water connector. The other photos are of the plastic triangle inside the connector and what it looks like "disassembled". For the record, I've never been lucky enough to put one back together and have it work without leaking. That's why chuckster suggested to try a couple of times to reseat it, if that doesn't work, just replace the entire component (city water connection/backflow valve) as one unit. Cost is about $10 and roughly an hour of your time.

I have in the past been able to put the O-ring back in place on one of these valves. Problem occurs at winterizing the water system. If you reach in there and push the little white part while the system is pressurized by the water pump, water(Pink Stuff) flows the wrong direction and unseats the O-ring. If you wan to get pink stuff into this line I would recommend having someone hold the valve open while the system is not pressurized and then turn the pump on for a few seconds. Chris
