Batteries batteries!!!!!

ok so we want to change our 1 12v battery to two 6volt batteries. We have been told they will last longer than 1 12v.

Are the 6 volt batteries golf cart batteries. We had Costco tell us that is what everyone uses? Also Camping world showed us the same thing.

yup. and the nomenclature is GC-2 IIRC. Guess what the GC stands for!!. GC will take much more abuse than most 12V, will generally last longer and keep you going longer. And cost more. if you seldom dry camp, they may not be the best "bang for the buck". then 12V may be less expensive, but the GC will give you more "piece of mind". Just keep them watered. A pair of GC will give you 220-260AH depending on the battery. A single 12V is between 80-120AH, usually toward the lower number. A pair of GC will get you through the evening and night with the furnace running, likely even 2 days. A single 12V may not get you through the night with the furnace. Treat GC well, keep them watered and charged and they should last at least 5 years, even 10 years is very likely.

We have 2 6v Trojans and because we do a fair amount of dry camping, they have served us well. They are heavier and more costly, but for us, they meet our needs. As was pointed out in the previous post, if you are going to be plugged in most of the time and doing very little dry camping, 1 or 2 12v's makes more sense.
