When changing a flat tire is a good practice to put a bottle jack under the axle to lift the tire?

There was a recent discussion on this. Best practice is to jack at the frame, just like the manual states.

The easiest way is to run the good tire up on to a two 2X10s to raise it just enough to change the flat. If you are lifting with a jack position it on the axle as close to the wheel as possible and under the spring. This is the method I use but it is not recommended by Keystone. Speed and safety are my main concerns when stuck on the side of the road and this is the fastest method. Hank

I like that idea to drive it up on two 2x10's seems like a safe and quick way.

I agree with Hankpage the jack placed close to the spring mount is fine. if that bends the axel. then you just found out your axel was a pile of poop! and neded to be replaced. also the faster you can get it jacked changed and out of harms way is best.
