Trailer Leans to Passenger Side

Hello,

I have a 2010 Springdale 267BHSSR and it leans to the passenger side. I have replaced the leaf springs since the old springs were flat on that side but it still leans. Is this normal? The unit has one slide on the drivers side.

Thanks for the help.

I’ll assume that one side’s springs are more compressed, verifiable by measuring distance from axle(s) to frame. Take the trailer to a scale and see if one side weighs more than the other. It really shouldn’t, at least by much. Do you have a bunch of stuff stored on that side of the trailer?

It has always leaned since I bought it a month ago. The old springs were completey flat on the passenger side. The kitchen is on the passenger side and the slide is on the drivers side. The tires are the same size 205/75R15. I have not measured from trailer frame to spring or taken it to any scales. I hear alot about scales but where can I go? Will my local freeway weigh station do this for me? Thanks for all of your replies I will measure the spring distance tomorrow. I don't have anything loaded in it minus kitchen cooking stuff.

Thanks again

load all your gear on the drivers side

really, could it be possible that the springs are heavier on the pass, side then the drivers side? to compansate for the extra weight of the kitchen. and they wore out and you replace with to light of a spring.

I Lean

I would lean towards the thought that the spring is not the right weight rating, or one shackle longer then the other.

Sorry I should have added this information. When I replaced the springs I increased thier rating from 1750lbs ea to 2000lbs ea per Dexter Axle and I installed the Dexter Axle Wet Bolt Kit which included all new shackles. Last night I put the slide out and looked and it was almost level would they angle the trailer to compensate for the slide being out to make it level?

My state DOT has a listing of local scales. Don’t use one of those freeway weigh stations, as they’re for weight enforcement.

I would start by getting it weighed. Does the trailer seem overly heavy to pull or lift on that side when you changed the springs? Any chances of a water leak on that side of the trailer?

Thanks everybody for your ideas. I just got off the phone with Jaime at Keystone and he said it is normal to have some lean but if it starts to get over 1-2 inches I may want to upgrade the springs. Since I already upgraded the springs I should be fine. It currently leans 1/2 inch which I know isn't much but it is still visable. It's too bad they simply don't send these units out with a slightly heavier spring then needed.

Thanks again.

gilnutz, Howdy;

If they were to sell a unit that didn't need or require upgrades ...how on Earth would they make the extra money when we spend it to purchase
them
