Second air conditioner brand/size recommendations

Hey guys,

I have a 2021 keystone cougar 32BHS. It has only 1 AC. It is prepped for a second one. What brand and size do you guys recommend?

Thanks!!

If your unit has in command, then the easiest is using the same brand unless you want ceiling controls.

Because yours is a very late model RV I would recommend the exact same model and color, and buy the 15K, not the smaller model.

There was a post or two about shipping issues from certain rv parts suppliers (https://www.keystoneforums.com/forum...ad.php?t=50266) (https://www.keystoneforums.com/forum...ad.php?t=50122)

Keep that in mind if you order one online

Agree with others above. Stick with the same brand, make, model as the one you currently have. Your trailer (if pre-wired) will not need any modifications, since it was wired for one specific brand.

Question? Is your Cougar a 30 amp or a 50 amp RV?

I’m all my years, I have yet to see any RV prewired for 2nd air that’s 30A service. As a rule each AC is on a seperate leg of a 50A breaker panel.

Because it's so small, I opted to not purchase the second A/C in my camper, but I have been wondering - when a person does install a second unit, how is it controlled? I would imagine the Incommand would control it, but how? Is part of the pre-wiring cabling to the controller so that all connections are made at the new air conditioner with no other parts required?
I figure this is information the OP could use as well as satisfying my curiosity.

Depends: if you choose a ceiling controlled unit it will only need the 110VAC wiring. If it’s going to be controlled by a seperate thermostat, it needs the 110VAC wiring, 12V wiring and a thermostat. If it’s going to be connected to in command or a multizone thermostat, it will have to have the 110VAC wiring, 12V wiring, and a communication cable between both units.

This is the quick version.
