freshwater hose storage

After disconnecting the freshwater hose from the trailer and water source, does anyone loosely connect the ends of the hose before storing it? Keeping the ends of the hose blocked from the open air, even if stored in a closed container, would seem to lessen the chance of "stuff" getting into the hose until the next time it is used.

I connect the ends. It keeps the bugs out of it, and makes for easier storage. I just got a couple of totes to help organize the storage, and I sure helps finding stuff. One for fresh water hoses, another one for drain hoses and a black tank flush hose, and fittings.

I connect the ends for storage
I would hook it up to the spigot when you get to the campground and leave the other end unhooked a minute and flush some water out before you hook up to camper..at least that what I do because I had some gunk form in my hose over the winter

I also couple the ends of my hoses. I also use a "Cable Cuff" to keep things manageable without the need for a tote. I installed a couple of hooks and the cable cuff hangs up nicely out of the way.

I stuff my Zero G water hose in a trash bag after draining and put it into a black plastic locker box; no black tank related stuff in that box. I need to get one of those gizmos you noted from HD as I have 3 different lengths of coax 15', 50' and 75' and that would help with the longer ones which get to be a mess even if rolled and stored as neatly as I can. Just bought a couple of the Cable Cuff Pro Large on ebay for $11... HD is a bit of a long drive for small items.

I have about 10 of those, from tiny to the big boy, for my extension cords in the shed. Never thought of them for the camper. Thanks for the idea. Extremely handy and hang on pegs, screws, etc. easily on the walls.

I always connect the ends of the hoses together.

FYI, I use a garden hose real to store my water hose(s). I have 100 feet on one reel. I also have a second one I use for my 50 amp electric cord. Instead of trying to shove it in a tote of some sort, I simply real it up. I've been doing this with the the garden hoses for over 15 years. I started using one for the 50 amp cord when we purchased our current fifth wheel, which had 50 amp service.

If a person has room for a reel putting the 50A cable on it is extremely helpful. I was on my 3rd one from the cable twisting as it was formed into a coil then separating the sheath from the cable ends. That ain't gonna happen with a reel....and so easy. Mine is made by MorRyde.

I don't put my hoses on a reel but I have no intention of ever carrying a 100' water hose.

Yep, I always connect my hose ends. Keeps bugs and dirt out, keeps water from draining out into my pass through, and keeps the hose ends from flailing around.

I have a hose organizer and a bag (although going to basically a Tupperware container) for all the 'other connectors', filter, etc.

I got some hose storage end caps instead of connecting together.

Just an observation, hose storage end caps get lost, with the hose connected to itself, you don't risk losing the caps... YMMV

To Canonman, is that picture from the Sedona area, looks like a place we visited near Sedona in the red rocks?

I store my Potable and black water stuff in seprate totes as well as electrical. I have found these totes to be durable and they fit perfectly in my pass through.

I connect the ends together; I also have a Y splitter on the shore end (to screw in a black flush or wash hose later), and a brass L on the trailer end, all with integral ball-valve shutoffs. Makes it a one-person job to set up the hose and then blow all the air out of it before hooking it up to the inlet, to avoid pumping giant air bubbles through your trailer plumbing.

Only problem with the arrangement is that between these fitting, the pressure regulator, and the water filter, there is now enough Rube Goldberg plumbing at both ends of the hose that DW is perpetually confused as to what joint to unscrew to take the hose apart for setup!

The shutoff valve on the white hose seems redundant as the "Y" it's connected to has one. Just curious why the secong valve?

The Y at the bibb end has a valve on the main feed because it needs to have one on the "spare" leg, and Ys are only manufactured with no valves or two valves. We don't really get much utility out of that one.

The valve at the far (trailer) end of the hose allows me to open the bibb, walk to the trailer inlet, point the far end of the hose somewhere safe, then expel all the air in the hose before hooking it up to the trailer inlet.
