2011 Silverado 2500/3500 Bed Rail Height
What is the deal with the bed height on the 2011 GM HD series pickups?
My 2008 Silverado 2500HD bed rail height measures 57" from the ground to top of rail. I an thinking about pulling the trigger in a new 2011 3500. I stopped by a dealer today, got out my tape and measured a 2011 on the lot. The bed rail height is 58.5". I only have 6" bed/fiver clearance with my current truck and already about 1" nose high.
What is GM thinking? Now I don't know what to do. I do not want to modify the fiver frame/suspension. That seems crazy.
I have heard adding Dexter ezflex wet bolt kit to the fiver suspension raises the trailer an inch or so, is this true?
Any thoughts?
Steve

I have a 2011 duramax pulling a Apline. I have not had many issues with height between bottom of 5th and be rails. I have not encountered extreme unlevel ground backing yet.
Pin box is where I'd compensate if it keeps everything flat.
I would not hesitate on the 2011. I am very impressed with mine. And obviously very happy.

I've got a 2011 pulling an Alpine, and I had to raise the hitch to the highest position, lower the pinbox to the lowest position, AND lift the truck 2 inches, and I'm still 1/4" low in the front of the trailer. LOVE the truck tho. Pulls a 15k trailer like it's not even there. And don't even get me started on the exhaust brake. WOW!

Don't know what to say. Yes the bed rails are higher on my 11 than on the 05. Didn't change anything (hitch/pin box/etc) and yes lost about 1 1/2" Rail to 5er clearance, but still have 6 inches and everything is perfectly level when connected. What wheels and tires did the truck you looked at have? Mine are only 17 inchers (dually) optionals are 18 and even 20 inch on SRW 1 Tons and 3/4 Tons. Might make everything higher in the back.

Yes, they were 18".
I received some other feedback as well and I should be ok with my outback fiver.
Thanks
