Battery question

Just curious, if tv is hooked up to trailer and tt is plugged into shore power, does the converter charge both batteries? Went to hook up tt and my truck wouldn't crank. Jumped it off and hooked up, now the tt is plugged into shore power and no problems.

If it did (BIG IF) it wouldn't charge it very well, mostly due to the size of the wire us between the two.

If you're vehicle charging system will change your RV battery then yes, your RV converter/charger will charge your vehicle battery UNLESS someone has installed a diode in the circuit so that current will only flow from TV to RV.

That said, you won't get much going either direction because of the cable size and its length. You can only push so many amps through that small wire and the connector. Neither is made to handle high currents.

Unplug your RV when you get to your destination even if you don't unhook.

Thanks for the info. I was not going to leave it that way, just getting ready for tomorrow's trip and was curious. I think a light was left on and drained the battery down. I just checked with a load tester and battery checked good. Guess we are good to go.

"I think a light was left on" I believe you have found the culprit. Now blame it on your SO. Don't say she did it, just that you are going to blame her.....

Some vehicles switch off the connection when the key is switched off and on some vehicles the connection is hot all the time (like on mine). Its true that because of the small gauge of the wire there aren’t many amps being transferred from the TV to the trailer.

I sometimes don’t disconnect the trailer on an overnight, but I do pull the trailer plug so I have a good start in the morning.

At least late model Fords you can leave the RV plugged in as it will not charge/discharge unless the ignition is in the on position.
