120v problems

I have 2011 Laredo 5th Wheel model 318RL. It has a 50 amp marine style connection at the back. It came with 50 amp power cord which weighs about 100 lbs so I use a 50 amp to 30 amp dogbone adapter and a 30 amp power cord.
On occasion I will loose power to the front 1/2 of the trailer. Electrical outlets in the back work ok but the converter and outlets in the front are out. The ones that are out include the bathroom with the gfi . Could it be that or could it be a problem with the dogbone adapter? Does the 30 amp feed get split into two circuits by the 50 amp trailer circuits indicating a faulty adapter?

If you are trying to run everything in your trailer as usual through a 30A cord, that's a problem. It's only rated for 30 amps, period. It sounds like you are overloading something and a thermal or current limiting device is shutting off half of your power panel. If you are using a voltage/current monitor such as the Progressive Industries, then it's doing what it is designed to do, prevent you from burning down your trailer.

There's just no way to squeeze more than 30 amps out of that power cord. But that doesn't mean your trailer won't try! When it does, something will trip to limit it from happening. If you need 50 amps you also need a 50 amp cord.

Thanks for your replies. The trailer is wired for a second air conditioner but only has one installed. I think that is why it has the 50 amp connections. All the camp grounds we stay at only have 30 amp service. Would it matter if you had the adapter at the trailer or at the post.

You have a bad dog bone. Your one hot leg coming from the pedestal is connected to both the 50 amp legs within the dog bone, so if one works only sometimes, that is the one with the bad connection. If the connectors on the dog bone are able to be taken apart, you can probably fix it, otherwise, just replace it.
