Question Exterior Vinyl coming loose

I have a 2006 Keystone Cougar 5th wheeler. It's a nice trailer, still in very good condition, and I'd like to keep it that way.

One thing that needs attention is the vinyl "siding" (for lack of a better definition) that covers the area behind the hitch and under the bedroom. There are a couple of bolts missing and two more are loose. I need to know are these screwed into a wood frame, or into metal? Can new screws/bolts be place anywhere or are there anchors that they must be screwed into?

Siding

I am not sure if your situation is the same but on my 1998 Jayco that I just traded I had the same problem. The screws holding the sheeting under the bedroom was coming loose and the problem was that they had put the screws onthe edge of the boards and after time they came out. I had to drill new holes and reattach and fill the old holes. I hope this helps.

Were you drilling into a wood frame or metal?

On our 327 RES, there were 4 screws that held the plastic up around the king pin area. Only 1 of the screws was actually screwed into the frame. Going to drill the other 3 and reinsert the screws. It is in a metal frame. Not worth the time to take it back to the dealer for something I can do in 5 minutes.

I have an '07 Cougar made in '06 and it is metal framed.(aluminum) On mine there are no visible screws holding up that sheet of vinyl (fiberglass??) just the edging around the outside corners and the front cap. Since you already have screw holes try going to the next size screw and see if that holds. Do not go longer just larger .... if #8 go to #10 If #10 go to #12. Maybe a photo would help us help you. Keep us informed as it may help someone else, Hank

A couple of the screws broke off with part still inside, so using a larger screw wouldn't work. It's no problem to add new screws but I didn't know whether they were going into wood or metal.
