Dining table discoloring

Any suggestions on how to get rid of the discoloring on the dining table? I believe they were caused from warm dinner plates being put on place mats. I've tried Pledge, but that is possibly what has turned white.

The discoloration looks like it may be quite deep and is probably not going to be removed by a surface cleaner or restorer. I think you are going to have to remove - by sanding or paint/stain/varnish remover - the entire table finish coat and start from scratch. In other words, take it right down to the bare wood. Sand, stain, and refinish with polyurethane.

You might be able to get rid of some or most of the white but I think some discoloration will remain and I don't think you'll be happy looking at that.

Mine did the same thing. I tried everything from polish to snake oil(LOL). I put a table cloth on it for a while, then broke down and sanded it down and put a few coats of polyurethane on it. In the process, I replaced the chairs, so I painted the table leg(pedestal) to match the chair legs.

Dining table discoloring

I know this sounds crazy but take a white t-shirt and place over the marks. Take an iron and put it on the lowest steam setting and iron away. You have to have the steam going to make it work. Remember to stop and look at it as you go along so you won't burn the table. You will be amazed at the results!! I have used this method for years.
