Fred,

Is that the mileage on your tires? 18,000 or did you mean to say 1,800?

If you go to this website, it will give you some generalized information on ST tires, how to maintain them and what to expect from them.

The general rule seems to be 3-5 years and 5,000 to 12,000 miles of life.

If you've got 18,000 miles on yours, you've been "living on borrowed tires" for quite some time..... That might explain your blowout last year and could predict your future tire problems.

Here's that website: http://www.americastire.com/dtcs/inf...rTireFacts.dos

Towmax AKA "Blowmax". I prefer Maxxis ST tires but that is just my opinion. I believe it to be a superior ST tire to the rest.

If you go to a tire shop and they suggest all the tires need replaced, he is likely looking out for your safety and of course wants your money. 18000 miles that was a good life for a RV tire.

I went 3yrs and about 25,000 miles on my TowMax's. There was all kinds of tread left but I replaced them. They were developing broken belts throughout. I went to an LT this time. Bridgestone Duravis R250's and love them. The rig rolls so much smoother!

lt option

Thank you for all the responses from my towmax post. Is it okay to use an lt tire vs. st seems more choices and it would be the better tire. Thank You

You can certainly use an LT tire. I believe I have the same tire as you and when the time comes to change them I'm going with Firestone Transforce.

I have a 2012 Avalanche and I changed my tires out to Uniroyal Larado HDH LT tires. They have done very well so far.

My preference it LTs, but they are in short supply in the 15" size, which Keystone seems to be very fond of.. Maxxis makes a load range E in that size. I'm trying a set now and curious to see how they do.
I got rid of the TowMax tires after two years, with less than 5K miles on them. Just don't want to pull with China bombs.
