Fuzion top bunk rail

I have a 322. My kids want to sleep on the top bunk. DW is afraid that they will roll off, especially the youngest.
Has anyone modified or fabricated a 6-8" high rail for the top bunk that folds flat?

I would be careful not to make the rail to high if a open style, could be a place to get a head stuck. Just a thought.

I don't know what the Fuzion bunk looks like, but here's what I made:

It doesn't fold flat, but it pulls straight up for removal. If you're paranoid about a kid pulling it up, you can alway drill a hole to insert a removable pin through the front stakes and into the lip of the bunk. It has three tabs on the back (left, middle, and right) so it essentially clamps over the lip of the bunk. 1x3" white oak is the exact same thickness as the lip of the bed frame, so front and rear tabs act like a clamp.

FYI. There has been some instances of the top bunk on the electric "Happijac" system failing. Not the system, but the bed itself. Some questions have been raised of the integrity of the construction of the bed and owners have performed reinforcement upgrades to prevent failure or a repeat failure. Search this forum for related threads.

How about a hinged gate that folds *under* the bunk? Put a gate hinge on the underside of the bunk so that the gate rotates 270° so it keeps the critters in bed? Use pairs of eye-screws to secure the raised gate against the side of the bunk.

If it's hard to visualize, I can etch-a-sketch something up.

If you could, I would love it! I can fab, just lacking in design ingenuity!

That looks extremely doable!! I will go to The blue and red hardware store at the end of the week and try to get TE stuff to do it.
I will post pics when I can finish. The kids have school all week so I can probably get ER done.
Thanks!!!
