Hello from Cali/Bumper Recall

We're new to Forum. We have a 2011 Cougar 29RES 5th whl towed with a 2011 Chevy Silverado diesel. We've camped almost once a month since we bought them Apr 2011. We both camped as kids, but this has all been new territory for us as we learn the ins and outs of backing, leveling, etc. We're having a great time and meeting really nice people. Recently while on our way to visit our kids in ID, we were only about an hour and half out of town when a passerby waved us down pointing to the back of rig. We pulled over immediately and upon inspection discovered the bumper with spare attached was barely hanging onto the frame. It looked as though it was hinged and hung on the bottom weld. It only took a little tug and it came right off. We loaded the spare and the bumper inside the camper and headed off towards our destination. After returning from our trip we took it in to the shop for repairs as well as for a leak under the shower. While the 5thr has been in the shop these last 4 weeks, we received a recall letter from Keystone regarding said bumper has been recalled and to take it to the dealer for a quick fix. Hmmm. Too late. Now we learn from the shop that the warranty people and the Keystone people are disputing who's responsible for cost of repair. We plan on calling Keystone this week to see what can be done. If anyone has this model or certain 2010-2012 models 26SAB & 29RES 5th wheels, be aware that there is a Safety Recall notice.

Welcome to the forum and sorry for your problems, hopefully you can get the issue resolved with Keystone. The situation could have been much worse, with out the passerby's warning. Let us know how it turns out.
