Fresh water tank is filling up

We have never put water into the fresh water tank. Today we returned to our camper today to discover the fresh tank overflowing! The command center said it was full, yet we hadn't filled it. We winterized as we did last year. We got to this campground and dewinterized as usual, letting the pink stuff out of all faucets etc. There is no pink color in the water we are emptying from the fresh tank. Help! It almost seems that our city water might be heading to the fresh tank...but that doesn't make sense since you have to fill the fresh tank by it's own tube. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Camper is a cougar 24RDS fifth wheel. We shut off water to camper whenever we leave.

If you don't have a "power fill" valve in a convenience center (gravity fill tank) then the FW pump is letting city water get past it and fill the tank. Turn the city water off and run the pump for a while. If it's debris jamming the diaphram open that may clear it. Are you using a regulator on the city water hose?

Plastic bits from drilling holes into the tank have migrated into the pump and fouled the “check valve.” Now it leaks backwards from the city water supply into the tank. Take the pump apart and clean the bits out. Then, after flushing the tank onto the ground, fill the tank, open all of the faucets, and turn on the pump. This is what worked for me.

You've probably got a FloJet pump (with blue locking clips to hold the fittings in the pump head). To prevent those plastic bits from being sucked into the pump head and damaging the diaphragm, order and install one of these strainers. https://www.amazon.com/Flojet-017403...s%2C414&sr=8-3 It's one of the best $10 mod you can do to your trailer plumbing system.
