Reese Goosebox 20k Tilted

I just installed a Goosebox 20k to a Lippert 1116 hitch attachment (has the spacer plates). The hitch is tilted clockwise when looking at the front. Measuring from the bolt holes it looks to be about half a cm low on the right. I can’t find any reference to this and wonder if it’s just the trailer holes slightly out of tolerance or if something is off with the spacer plates.

Anyone have experience with this install, especially with the 1116?

Mike

Mike, I have no experience with this in the least, but I would find that condition very unsettling. I would somehow correct it before I actually towed with it that way.

Yeah I’m with you.

This is the second time I’ve done this install but the first with these plates you have to add. The first one did not do this.

Welcome to the forum

When you tightened the bolts did you have any “loaded” pressure on the hitch? By that I mean applying upward pressure on the goosebox. We use a forklift, you may have to hitch up to the TV. Put enough weight on the truck so that the hitch is pushed up as far as it will go. Then tighten everything. Unhitch and measure again. If it’s still off then there is an issue.

I’m thinking it’s the spacer plates are not quite aligned to the Goosebox correctly. Have you installed those before? It was a bit vague on the install instructions.

I haven’t had to use the spacer plates, but if the holes line up, then I’m thinking they should be ok.
