Dishwasher

I'm connecting a countertop dishwasher in our 32RLI. Piping it directly to the drain, above the P-trap under the bathroom sink using a dishwasher drain adapter with a barb fitting I picked up at Home Depot today. Or I thought I would.

Even though the P-trap in the trailer is clearly labeled 1 1/2 inch, and the tailpiece I purchased today is also 1 1/2 inch, the Home Depot tailpiece is larger in diameter than that in the trailer.

Does RV Plumbing exist in its own dimensional world?

Thanks, Scott

In case someone is researching this in the future, it appears bathroom drains are indeed 1 and 1/4 inch. The odd thing is the P-trap it inserts into is clearly labeled 1 and 1/2 inch. They must use an oversized elastomer ring.

Anyway I'm not going to be deterred, so I'm looking at a tapping saddle that is available at Home Depot.

It looks like it's made for connecting the drain on reverse osmosis water filter systems. So maybe I'm not going too rogue approaching it this way.

Think I'll hedge my bet and put one of those water alarms in the bathroom sink cabinet beneath it!

I've seen plastic tailpieces in Walmart and HD that have a label fits 1 1/4" and 1 1/2" with 2 plastic rings.

I'm coming to learn that those probably are a different mounting style. The sink in our bathroom has a flare on top of the tailpiece and it drops through the sink from above and the nut is applied from the bottom. That wouldn't be possible with a branch.

The solution is either a saddle (I hope), or plumb the dishwasher into the kitchen drain which has a bar sink style drain.

All of this stuff I've learned in about the past day. I want to share what I've learned and maybe save someone else time in the future.
