suggested WDH system ???

Hello all, Today we decided on a 2011 Hideout 26 RLS. Its dry weighted at about 6200 and GVW at about 7700 . I need to upgrade my WDH system. Dealer wants to sell me the Equalizer 4 point system for 750.00.
First, is this a good system for my size trailer ? Would a Reese dual cam be better or is it for heavier trailers ? Reese has a WDH system that looks like Equalizer's but seems somehat less costly . What do y'all suggest for my size trailer ?? T V is an 2011 Nissan TItan. And who or what company is a good cost effective source for these systems and can I install it myself ??
Thanks for any all suggestions

Check rvwholesalers and tweeties (tweetys?) for price.

I'd get the 10,000# Equalizer, as 13% is 1001# tongue weight for that GVWR.

Never had a Reese Dual Cam, but be sure it is dual cam you are comparing to. Built in sway control on Equalizer or Reese Dual Cam are sure nicer than friction sway control.

You can install either yourself, and in fact to set them up properly you need the TT fully loaded, so even if dealer sets it up you will still need to adjust it yourself.

Desert Jack,

We also used the Equalizer WDH & were very happy with it. Our trailer was 29 ft &
about 7000 lbs loaded (if I remember correctly)... the Equalizer was tried/tested
numerous times (as were my nerves ) with strong cross-winds in NM, TX & AZ.
IMHO the hitch was well-worth the cost.

Here's the website for both brands that you mentioned -- the Equalizer video is
worth watching regardless of which hitch you buy.

Congratulations on your new Hideout, and Happy Trails.

Very happy with the Reese Strait-Line Dual Cam WDH system here. Was installed by the dealer at the time we purchased the trailer for an invoice price of $699 total. That's a higher price than the system could be bought for independently, but not by a whole lot. Was worth it for us to have the dealer do the install and initial setup.

The Equalizer and the Dual Cam are both very good choices. They both are pretty darned effective at dealing with sway. Both do an excellent job of weight distribution.

I am sure that my leaning towards the Reese products is based in part because there were two good Reese dealers within a 20 minute drive of my home when I had TT's. There were no Equalizer dealers at the time.

But I have heard many glowing reports about the Equalizer.

I don't believe you can go wrong with either as long as they are properly installed and adjusted for your combination.

thanks

Thanks for the great replies to my inquiry. I guess the Equalizer will be the way I'll go. I have used the old style Reese unit with its spring bars and friction sway bar. But this set up looks much more solid. Thanks again for the great advise.

I have an Equalizer 10,000 pounder that I'm selling and it keeps getting cheaper because I have no use for it. PM me if you are interested and I know we can make a deal.
