Remove stove hood?

My wife hates how the stove hood on our bullet premier sticks out and low. She has a hard time seeing what's on the stove without bending over. What are the cons of possibly removing it. Is it a bad idea?

Does it vent outside? If so you'll have to deal with that. If yours does not then it should be very simple. They are held in with a few screws and you also have to 12V feed.

We have a 248RKS, hated the stove vent hood, and removed it.

If it doesn't vent outside, there are 4 screws that hold it to the underside of the upper cabinet. When you remove it you'll see two 12VDC wires that supply power to the fan/light on the vent hood. I'd suggest installing a light fixture of your choice to the underside of the upper cabinet for two reasons. First, to cover the holes (and take advantage of the provided power source) and second, to provide some light over the stove.

Easy to remove, but I'd urge you to keep it tucked away in the garage somewhere. When you get ready to trade in or sell the trailer, the next owner may want it. Buying a replacement isn't expensive, but why buy later what you throw away today ????

Looks good. I refer to the non vented range hood as "The RV salesman". They are both dim and blow smoke in your face.

Whenever you cook on the stove or in the oven you'll smoke your trailer out. That smell will stay in your trailer for a few days.
Have you given any thoughts to cut 3 or 4" off the back of the hood and sliding it back so that she can see?

On my 248RKS the hood is already about 2 inches away from the back wall. Its too aligns with the front of the microwave cabinet above. The hood front then just out from there. So I assume other non venting ones are similarly mounted.

Steve, did you read the part about this being "unvented?" An unvented hood serves no purpose other than to blow the smell and steam throughout the trailer. I would suggest putting time and effort into venting the hood and putting the conversion kit into the existing hood to make it bright AND make the vent actually vent properly.

Vent it and you won't regret it. First mod i did was cut a 3x9 hole in the side of my brand new trailer to vent it right! The stealership can do it also. Actually this should be for safety too.The crap they get away with!

Nope I was thinking more about his wife not being able to see what she was cooking. If the OP is going to vent it, it's not a huge job as they make kits which makes the job pretty simple.
I was just shooting the idea of shortening the depth of the hood vent as it would solve one of the main problems.
