Question Buccaneer State Park in Waveland, MS

We are venturing from Tennessee to Biloxi, MS in mid October with our new 2650BH Passport. Due to Cruizin The Coast there are no campgrounds with openings in the Buloxi-Gulfport area available, so we decided on staying at Buccaneer State Park in Waveland which is about 50 miles away. It looks good on the park reviews I have read, but I'm wondering if anyone has stayed there and can give me their thoughts and insight on it?

Just 30 miles north of Gulfport is a town called Wiggins. Flint creek water park is located there. You may want to do a google search and see if this will work for you.

Drive Through Buccaneer St Park

We drove through the park early this summer to check it out; and it seemed to be quite nice. There were several big rigs there when we drove through. It is quite a bit out of the way, but that's what we liked about it. Shopping is located on Hwy 90 not too far away. It has been completely refurbished, and a new water park is adjacent to it.

We are planning to stay there sometime this fall.

We haven't been to Flint Creek (Wiggins); but we have friends who go there.

On down the road (west) is Fontainbleau State Park (on Lake Pontchartrain); and it is quite nice - also somewhat remote (Mandeville, LA).

Thank you Jim Dow. We are looking forward to staying at Buccaneer and did not know what to expect. The other parks sound great also and we will keep them in mind if we get the opportunity to venture back in that area. I will follow up when we return from our trip and let you know our experience.

Jim Dow, Our stay at Buccaneer State Park was fantastic! It is a huge park with decent sized sites. Very clean and very well maintained. We stayed there in October for Cruzin the Coast. The regular pool and the wave pool were closed for the season. The camp store and laundry were still a work in progress from the rebuilding from the hurricane that wiped it out several years ago. All of the bath houses were open and were totally new. I would definitely stay there again. Thank you for your insight on the park, you were spot on with all your comments!

My signature pic is of the site we had at Buccaneer
