It's hard to pinpoint a specific reason or reasons why any corporation makes the decisions they do, but speculation would center around these few as likely considerations why the Springdale and Hideout fifth wheel lines were discontinued:
1. There wasn't enough sales to continue manufacturing them. The Springdale fifth wheel was manufactured in both the Oregon and the Indiana locations. By discontinuing the Hideout and Springdale fifth wheel lines, the plants could open that floorspace to manufacturing trailers that sell faster and likely have a larger profit margin.
2. Every year, Keystone looks at its predicted sales/demand for each product ine. Trailer models, trailer brands and trailer options are all changed to meet the demands of the public.
3. Over the past 10 or so years, Keystone has discontinued multiple trailer lines. The Vantage travel trailer line, the Montana travel trailer line, the Cougar travel trailer line, the Sprinter Copper Canyon fifth wheel line, the Everest fifth wheel line, the Hornet travel trailer and fifth wheel lines, the Challenger fifth wheel line, the Zepplin travel trailer line, and many others have all been discontinued in the past 10-15 years.
The Springdale fifth wheel line is just the next step in what Keystone is doing to remain competitive in the RV industry. Certainly, not all of their decisions will be clearly understood by every customer. Many, probably like you, have nothing but good experiences with a specific trailer brand/model. To you, the decision may not make any sense, but in the grand scheme of maintaining a large corporation's competitive edge, someone, somewhere believes it's the direction the company needs to follow.
Heck, GM did it with Pontiac Oldsmobile and Saturn, Ford did it with Mercury, Dodge did it with Plymouth. I'd guess product lines will continue to be offered, then when they're no longer profitable, discontinued so the company can use that manufacturing space to build something they believe will be more profitable.
