Picked up a new truck to haul the camper with.

We took a little road trip and brought home a new tow vehicle for the camper.

Yes it's a stick shift. I wanted to be able to control exactly which gear I am in at any given time. Plus this eliminates the weak link in the Ram with the Auto transmissions. I have heard good things about the heavy duty Auto, but we plan on keeping this truck a long time and I figured that the manual would work best for us.

Quick weekend to the coast

Took the new Cougar 21RBSWE to the Washington coast for the weekend (Grayland Beach SP).

Drove for work earlier in the week out that way and for the 140 mile RT averaged a hair over 22 MPG in the Ram1500.

This weekend averaged 10.8 going there and 10.5 on the way back, took it easy going about 60 the whole way.

Truck sagged a little bit (about 2-2.5") but the newly-installed Airlift1000s did their job and kept it to a minimum...noticeably better than last year without the airbags. A little bit of the sag may have been the nearly full fresh-water tank that came from the dealer that I forgot to drain.

We had a "01 CTD with the six speed and in 15 years and 200K, never a problem and still had the original clutch. Our new one is just like yours but with the Aisan. Wife would not drive the stick but will this truck. We had questions about the Aisan when I first drove it; seemed to be slow to shift and somewhat loose, but dealer says the old standby: "they all do it". Anyway, we have the lifetime power train warranty so we will see what happens. Like it fine so far at 6000 miles.

I have the Aisin as well. Just had it in for an oil change and general servicing and they did two updates to the computer systems - one of which was for the transmission shift points and it seems to have really smoothed things out. On a different note - apparently there are 2 fuel filters and it's not too cheap or easy to replace them - I'm going to need to do some research on how to DIY the job. Too bad... my old 5.9 was a cinch to swap out the FF on.

On the 2015 Rams diesels, one fuel filter is under the hood, and the second is under the truck in front of the axle. Here is some additional information for you about the fuel filters from the Cummins forum

Ohhhhhh. I had heard they were going to kill the manual transmission. Now I'm all happy... Gorgeous truck.

Picked up our 3500HD yesterday. Finished 80% of the B&W Turnover Ball Hitch installation (still need to install end brackets) and currently looking for running boards & mud flaps. Love the way the Sierra drives!!!

Nice truck. WeatherTech has some nice easy install no drill mud flaps.

Tom, that's a nice looking GMC. Along with the mud flaps, you might want to consider rear wheel well liners to protect the underside of the bed rails. Here's one source: https://www.huskyliners.com/Wheel-We...sierra-3500-hd

JRTJH, I went right to GM and bought the wheel liners. I don't remember what I paid, but it didn't seem like that much more than the Husky.
