189RB Inverter Install? One Wire??

Can someone point me in the right direction? I want to install an inverter on my 189RB but under the box is just one single cable. Am I supposed to cut this cable or.....what? I'm very confused.

That romex is the loop from the breaker panel, It will be live to power the inverter plugs. If your getting ready to install your inverter, TURN OFF THE SHORE POWER, and then cut the romex. One side will be powered when you plug back in, that side is the AC IN to the inverter, the other end goes to the AC OUT.

Typically if you are installing an inverter with a built in transfer switch you cut the cable. One side goes to the breaker and the other side is the output that goes to the outlets. Obviously you remove all [power, including removing the neg battery cable when you wire up the inverter.

To find out which side is the outlet wire ... Turn the power off. Cut the romex and keep the two cut ends from touching anything. Wrap the ends with a bit of electrical tape to make sure you don't get electrocuted. Restore power and use a non-contact electrical tester to find out which cable is energized. That will be the supply or feed from the circuit breaker. The non reacting wire will be the wire going to the outlets. Mark the wires with a pen then turn the power off again before connecting to the inverter.

Above are some recent inverter install threads that all started with this loop of romex. The good part of this is that this one is yellow instead of white which means that it should be stamped as 12ga wire and support 20A.
