Battery Disconnects

Before I ask, I will preface this with the fact that I am NOT an electrical engineer by any means. Have a very basic level of understanding.

But….help me understand the differences in the switches on the Giggy box and the battery disconnect switch mounted to the frame of the trailer.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I am not an expert by any means.
But I believe if you have a battery disconnect mounted to the frame, it was probably installed by the dealer. In that case it would be a true shut off of all 12v battery power.
You should be able to confirm this by tracing the cable back from that switch to the battery.

That Giggy Box disconnect is a factory battery disconnect and shuts off most of the trailer with the exception of a few safety related items like the CO detector and the break away switch for trailer brakes.

Thank you! That makes sense. Was a little redundant in my mind so I knew I was either making it way too complicated or just not picking up on something.

If it has the battery disconnect, everything is cut off except for the break away switch (emergency brakes).

Thanks for that! I think I’d seen it but never really read it.
