Rotten Egg Smell Outside

I have a 2019 Keystone Laredo 37ft Trailer.

I have experienced the rotten eggs smell around the front of the RV a few times (mainly after dumping the kitchen grey tank). I checked all the propane connections and no leaks found.

My tanks don't appear to be leaking out the dump valve when closed. Since my underbelly is still intact, i don't notice any bulging to be a water leak there.

Cold and Hot water inside has no bad smells.

I have filled and flushed all tanks multiple times between dumps but this pops up from time to time.

Any ideas what I can try?

Check your batteries. Probably leaking and no good. That's what it turned out to be on our TT when we had a similar problem.

Agree with "peanut" and the battery theory. My batteries have that slight rotten egg smell, pretty much all the time. They have plenty of acid in them, not low at all. Nothing boiled over that I can tell. But ever since I've owned this camper, the smell has been there. Batteries seem fine, they just have a slight odor.

An overcharging battery for any reason will create a suluric gas odor. It is not normal. Either the battery is defective causing the converter to remain in a bulk mode charge or the converter is defective. The odor is caused by the battery acid boiling so if gone unattended it will boild down the electrolyte and could damage the converter.

The conversation has centered around batteries but your initial post, while mentioning batteries, said this happens when you dump if I'm correct. The batteries wouldn't really be affected by that. However, you can get a "sewer" type smell from time to time when dumping. I've smelled it from mine occasionally and from other trailers when they dump. Last year I stayed at a park where it really stunk when I dumped and I looked high and low for the source. Turned out there was a sewer access cover in the grass that had openings in the top. Every time I dumped it pushed the odors up through that grate. I tried to wait until I was upwind when I dumped. I would make sure those batteries are OK just in case then see if something like the above may be occurring.

My guess would be that he smells it " mainly when he dumps the fitchen gray tank" is less about the actual tank draing and more related to his proximity to the batteries. This is just a guess as the OP hasn't shared the model number of the trailer so I can't look up a floorplan.

I had a bad propane regulator that caused that smell in the front of my TT

Hydrogen sulfide, whether from a dying led acid battery or the sewer is bad for your health if inhaled in any quantity.

Had a friend who had this issue as well. It was well…his gray tank. It just stunk! I think over time some bits of food that fell off plates in the sink got down there and did well whatever.

They make gray tank treatment. He put some of that in, fixed the problem straight away. Then more careful how you wash stuff in the sink.

I think that gray tanks can smell as bad or worse than black tanks in some cases. I have gotten in the habit of washing a tank treatment pod down the kitchen sink as well as the one I toss in the toilet for the black tank

Yep, three Sundays from now....

If you find them, "egg induced methane odor"
If you don't find them, "egg rot induced sulphur odor around certain bushes and trees"....

Either way, a couple days after Easter, almost everyone will be smelling sulphur one way or the other.....
