I believe you are looking for a 1 1/16" deep well socket

The socket is 1-1/2".

IiRC, 1 1/16” is the anode rod, 1 1/2” is the heating element.

If you are purchasing a socket, they make a water heater element element socket you can buy and Lowe's or Home Depot that is much cheaper than a regular socket, yes it is a 1 1/2"

For you metric aficionados, a 27mm socket will work on the anode rod.
