Door adjustment

Okay how do you adjust a door. The door leading into the bedroom is out of adjustment. The bottom part in the jam is hitting the casing. Any ideal how these doors are adjusted. A regular door I would tighten the bottom hinge to pull it in.

How much is it out?
You could put a 2x4 against the jamb and tap it over if it's close.
Or put a screw into the jamb a drive it over. There may be some gap that will allow the jamb to shift.
Or take the door off and using a finish blade trim the door and then refinish the door edge with matching stain.
More than likely the door and trim are stapled in place. Worst case scenario would be to try to remove the door and jamb and trim the wall back.
Good luck

Hinged door you typically bend the hinge a little bit, if the door jamb is out of square or swollen due to water intrusion then you may have to use a block plane and shave the door down where it's binding.

Is the casing wood or plastic?

Sounds like you are describing a situation like the sketch below...one jamb is not plumb.
If so - I agree with Laredo Tugger's suggestion.

Are these camper doors installed similar to a residential door? Door opening framed and they lift a pre-hung door in and shim it square in the framing?

Thank you everyone I haven’t tried any of the suggestions yet. Been laid up sick the last week. As soon as I’m better and get back out I will give it a try. Thanks again for the suggestion they are all what I would of tried and done with a regular door in a house. Thought maybe a camper would be different because of how they are built. Will post an update on it when fixed.

They are not like a pre hung door. Basically it’s framed with thin wood and uses a thin hing that has no adjustment in the hing. Hinges are not mortis just screwed to the door.

You can put a shim behind the hinge to square the door up in the existing jamb. Sometimes just a bit of cardboard is enough, other times you'll need a wooden shim.

Door Adjustment

Carpenter here. NEVER trim down a door to make it fit a jamb. It’s a rectangle inside a larger rectangle. You know the obvious problem, one of the rectangles changed.

Simplest first: check the hinges to see if one is bent. Hanging (kids) on a door will stretch the cheap Chinese metal out of shape, or pull out the fasteners in the door or jamb. Push the door toward the hinges to see if it’s loose. If so, that’s what you need to fix.

Check door for square and level. Check the jamb for square and level.

You have just determined where the problem is.

If the door has NO play (see above), then remove the trim to view the jamb on hinge and latch side. Adjust what is out of square by pressing back in (depending on if there’s wood cardboard or whatever they use in there) with wood glue and some 15ga or 18 ga trim nails from a gun. Screws will probably crack the material unless you predrill everything (still risky)

If you send pics I can tell you exactly what’s needed. It’s not hard, just frustrating when you see how poorly they construct these campers.

I will post pics in couple of days. Weather here has turned to a mess. With ice and cold temps. Today is first day in 3 days it’s above 30. The ice storm came through few days ago and caused a mess. Thanks everyone for the help.

door jamming

It may sound stupid, but the very first thing I would do is make certain the trailer is totally level. The door of our bathroom always has issues if we are not totally levelled correctly.

Mine has a auto level system. Per it it’s level I will recheck using my level and see if it’s off.

To add to what CBRV posted, if there is a broken floor joist or wall joist, that will allow the trailer structure to twist more than normal, creating a possible problem with doors opening/closing/sticking even more than normal.

I'm not suggesting that your trailer has any damaged framework, but it might be a good idea to start paying attention to when you have problems and not completely ignore the issue as "just a sticking door that needs adjusting"....
