Staying with Keystone

We just traded our 2015 Dutchmen Voltage 3895 in on a 2021 Avalanche 312RS. Seeing as Keystone owns Dutchmen we felt right at home in the Avalanche. Got tired of the VERY heavy Voltage plus with how long it is. We go to music festivals a lot and it being so long hindered our ability to get spots. Our kid is pretty much grown now so she doesn’t need a bedroom anymore and we wanted more livable space. Pulling the Avalanche is a dream compared to the Voltage! I pull with an 06 Dodge 3500 DRW which has a brand new 6 speed (compliments of the Voltage weight) and is also EFI Live tuned. Truck pulls the Avalanche almost as well as it pulls my tri toon. Probably won’t get to camp by end of this season but gonna try to do some front yard testing. Any hints, positive comments, or advice are always appreciated. Thanks everyone, and excited to be here!

Hello and welcome to the forum!

Congrats on your new Avalanche!

You are right to consider camping out in your front yard. It will help you to become familiar with all the new systems in the RV.

Enjoy and take care!

Congrats on your new purchase. Hope it serves you well.

We purchased our first hard sided travel trailer more than 20 years ago. And we've been sleeping in our drive way ever since! Current house, installed 50 amp service, reconfigured the septic tank, and installed a second outside water spigot that runs from our total in home filtration system. We have a fire pit that get's heavily used, 2 sets of yard furniture: one permanently in the camper for traveling, the other in the garage for around the fire pit or under the awning of the camper. and oh ... we have a 2800 square foot house, we barely ever use any more!

Life is fantastic in the camper!

Congratulations on the new Avalanche!
Is your Transmission Manual, or automatic? If auto sounds like a nice upgrade.

6 speed manual. I’ve been replacing trannys in that thing since I started pulling the Voltage. The six speed manual along with the South Bend clutch upgrade was the only way I knew to go to not have problems anymore. Been great every since and it’s just my camper pulling truck. Not my daily driver anymore.
